Schoolers and Yearners: Learning in the Digital Age

W. Gardner Campbell, Ph. D., Director, Professional Development and Innovative Initiatives, Division of Learning Technologies and Associate Professor of English, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University

Session Description:

We stand at a crossroads comparable to the moment human beings learned to read and write. Interactive networked computing has helped us create a world of unprecedented speed, variety, and complexity. Our schools must transform themselves to empower learners of all ages to become productive, creative digital citizens within that world. Dr. Campbell will explore how awakening the digital imagination can catalyze that transformation.

Learning Objectives:

1.) Understand how much technology is integrated into every aspect of everyday life.

2.) Discuss how technology may be better incorporated into building design.

3.) Understand what technologies need to be incorporated into design of new facilities.

4.) How technology influences every aspect of the design and implementation process for a construction project.
